SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for ensuring that dirty resident laundry is sorted, washing machine and dryer are loaded properly, clothes folded and are packed properly.
- QUALIFICATIONS: Hours are 3:00p-11:30p
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend Standard English.
- Must be able to operate standard laundry machinery.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to pull and push wet laundry from washing machines and dryers.
- 2. Able to be on feet 8 hours a day. Hours are 3:00p-11:30p
- Able to bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Able to see, hear and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
- Able to lift 5 to 15 pounds frequently.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and ensure compliance with laundry schedules.
- Ensure that dirty linen is kept separate from clean linen at all times.
- Ensure that water temperatures and pH of each washing machine are checked per standards.
- Ensure that lint traps are kept clean in accordance with center policy at least once per shift.
- Ensure that levels of laundry detergents, softeners, and bleach are checked, and that center policy is followed for refilling.
- Ensure that floors, ceiling, walls, and equipment is kept clean.
- Ensure that proper procedures are followed in the handling of all laundry, including, but not limited to making sure that clean laundry does not touch the floor.
- Ensure that infection control procedures are followed.
- Ensure that washing machines and dryers are operated in accordance with center policy.
- Ensure that linen is removed from dryers, folded, and stored in accordance with center policy.
- Inform Maintenance or Director of any problems with equipment so those repairs can be made.
- Ensure that all equipment is shut down in accordance with center policy when fire alarm sounds.
- Ensure that all laundry personnel, including self, are familiar with and follow all federal, state and center policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all laundry personnel, including self, work safely, following proper procedures when using chemical agents.
- Alert Laundry Director when last chemical is placed online.
- Inspect the quality and quantity of work produced during the day ensuring compliance with center policies.
- Keep Laundry Director informed of operation of laundry, problems, and suggested solutions.
- Keep daily records and all other paperwork pertaining to production and laundry operation.
- Other duties which may be assigned from time to time.
