Position Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial tasks including managing financial transactions and analyzing financial data.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May oversee day-to-day operations of the Accounting Team and assist team members as needed.
Essential Duties and Requirements
- Prepare routine journal entries.
- Prepare workpapers for some general ledger accounts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other assigned accounts.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Compile financial data for management reporting.
- Prepare account analyses and variance reports.
- Assist Accounts Payable team with vendor invoice review and coding.
- Support Accounts Receivable team with customer billing and cash application processes.
- Maintain the fixed asset ledger.
- Record additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries.
- Reconcile payroll accounts.
- Assist with payroll tax and benefit reconciliations.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Utilize accounting software and Microsoft Excel to perform daily tasks.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- Provides assistance and support to other departments as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Capable of regularly using good judgment and discretion to accomplish goals and work requirements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while collaborating effectively with the accounting team.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Highly motivated to achieve results and meet goals.

- Ability to use discretion and integrity when handling confidential information.
Education and Experience Criteria
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, required.
- 0-2 years of accounting experience, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with spreadsheets and financial reports, including proficiency with MS Excel.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Occasionally move about inside an office environment.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Frequently communicate with internal and external clients in-person, and via telephone, email, and video conferencing. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Pay Rate
$55K-$60K per year
