Job Summary
The Finance Manager reviews, prepares, reconciles and analyzes accounting records and financials reports ensuring adherence to accounting best practices and nonprofit policies and procedures, oversees all aspects of employee payroll and benefits.
Working closely with the Executive Director, and Grants Manager, the Finance Manager provides accurate financial reporting, supports budgeting and forecasting, and contributes to the development of financial policies and systems. This role requires a strong understanding of nonprofit finance, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Duties
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and support department heads in financial planning.
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements to the executive team and board.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures aligned with nonprofit best practices.
Accounting & Compliance
- Review, prepare, reconcile, and analyze accounting records and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and oversee the annual audit process.
- Assist in development of financial projections and forecasts.
- Validate grant transaction details in collaboration with the Grants Program Manager.
Payroll, Benefits & Transactions
- Oversee employee payroll and health benefits administration.
- Manage 1099 contractor invoices and payments.
- Prepare and record deposits; reconcile donation and client receipts.
- Book transaction details for NEON Pay and other platforms.
- Manage insurance policies and payments.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 7 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in nonprofit settings.
- Experience with payroll, benefits, and grant accounting.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Suite, and basic accounting software.
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
