(HIRRS) has been serving individuals with brain injury and other neurological impairments through our comprehensive community-based program in Rockville, Maryland. HIRRS is recruiting a Neuropsychological Screener (hereafter, “Screener”), a mission-critical position that supports an informed and comprehensive understanding of areas of strengths as well as cognitive and behavioral needs through the administration of appropriate screening tools. The Screener will work on concert with other program staff to ensure assessments are accessible, appropriate, and informative for treatment planning.
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in rehabilitation services, psychology, and/or a human services-related field and it is preferred they have at least 5 years’ experience in the field of developmental disabilities and/or brain injuries. The individual should have knowledge of federal, state, and county regulations. This position may require driving to and from various locations in the State of Maryland to meet with individuals for in-person assessments. As a result, the Screener must have access to reliable personal transportation and maintain personal insurance to at least the required minimums for the State of Maryland of $20,000 bodily injury, $40,000 combined bodily injury and $10,000 property damage. It is the responsibility of the Screener to provide HIRRS with proof of insurance.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with intake, social work and clinical teams to align screening with service goals
- Travel as needed to conduct on-site assessments
- Administer and score standardized tools
- Adapt screening protocols for individuals to address potential barriers including, but not limited to, language barriers, sensory impairments, preferences, etc.
- Observe and document behavioral and emotional indicators during assessments
- Interpret screening results within scope and escalate findings requiring further evaluation
- Prepare concise reports and summaries of screenings to inform treatment planning and referrals
- Participate in case conferences and care planning meetings
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant records and contribute to integrated care documentation

*This position is funded through a contract provided by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, effective through December 31, 2026. the contract, and the position, may be extended based upon the availability of funding.
Salary: $30 hourly, up to 20 hours per week, plus reimbursement for business-related travel.
Location: Hybrid. In-person hours will be completed at Headquarters office in Rockville, MD. Travel to various locations throughout Maryland to conduct screenings if individuals are unable to travel to Headquarters.
