Duties
- Operate horizontal directional drilling machines with precision to install underground infrastructure according to project plans and specifications
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Coordinate with project managers and crew members to plan drilling paths and troubleshoot technical issues during operations
- Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, equipment usage, and safety checks throughout each shift
- Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations while working on construction sites
- Support other construction activities as needed, including site preparation, grading, excavation, and utility installation
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating horizontal directional drills or similar heavy equipment in a construction environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with clean driving record for operating various vehicles on-site and between locations
- Familiarity with construction site safety standards and procedures
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret project plans accurately
- Hands-on experience with equipment or similar brands is highly desirable
- Knowledge of underground utility installation processes including horizontal drilling techniques is a plus
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions
