What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Legal Counsel position at HD Hyundai Construction Equipment?
Primary Duties: Manage a broad range of legal matters affecting the company, including providing strategic legal advice, mitigating legal risks, and supporting business operations across commercial, regulatory, and dispute-related areas.
Responsibilities:
· Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements (including sales, distribution, supply, service, and vendor agreements), and provide practical, risk-balanced legal advice to internal stakeholders. Particularly, draft and review termination notices and related communications to dealers and distributors, ensuring alignment with contractual rights, risk considerations, and management direction.
· Draft and review documents relating to corporate transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and internal restructuring, and support execution from a legal and risk perspective.
· Manage and oversee disputes, claims, investigations, and litigation matters, including coordination with external counsel, development of defense strategies, and mitigation of legal and financial exposure.
· Monitor and interpret applicable laws and regulations impacting the business, including but not limited to EPA, CARB, ECCC.
· Develop, implement, and oversee legal and compliance training programs for internal stakeholders, and support the establishment and maintenance of internal policies and procedures.
· Manage relationships with external counsel, including selection, engagement, performance oversight, and legal spend/budget management.
· Collaborate closely with HQ Legal Team in Korea on cross-border legal matters, including alignment of legal strategies, reporting, and implementation of global policies.
Requirements:
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) graduate of an ABA approved law school in the U.S.
· Qualified to practice law in any state of the U.S. (Georgia bar admission preferred).
· At least 1 - 2 years’ experience in private practice or in-house.
· Experience in dealership law, labor & employment law, immigration law, or construction equipment industry preferred.
· Excellent drafting and verbal / written communication skills preferably in both English and Korean.
· Excellent strategic and analytical skills.
· Demonstrate commercial awareness and the ability to apply legal knowledge and experience within a dynamic commercial environment.
· Able to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliver within an appropriate timeframe
· Able to manage conflicts and stressful situations in an efficient way.
· Excellent client relationship and able to collaborate efficiently across different teams and departments.

Work environment and other requirements:
- The work environment is a non-smoking office environment. No heavy lifting is required. Mostly sitting with computer and phone usage. Accommodation can be made for handicapped employees. Travel only on an “as needed” basis.
