Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the CRT/RRT provides comprehensive respiratory care to include basic respiratory care, intensive respiratory care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, arterial blood gas, electrocardiograms, and basic pulmonary function testing.

Performs patient care duties consistent with established Departmental and Hospital standards of care. Abides by all rules, directives, policies, and procedures, and performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Due to the nature of hospital services, it may become necessary to require employees to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift to ensure adequate care of patients and maintain service to the community. Maybe required to take call.

What qualifications you will need:

A. Completion of AMA approved program for Respiratory Technician (CRT) or a 2 year AMA approved program for Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

B. Minimum of one (1) year experience in a respiratory therapy department Preferred

C. Must be a Certified Eligible Respiratory Technician or Certified Respiratory Technician and obtain Respiratory Care Practitioner Certificate (CRT) or Registry Eligible Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist and obtain Respiratory Care Practitioner Certificate in accordance with the Texas Department of Health (RRT).

D. Current CPR and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association for the healthcare provider upon hire; PALS and NRP from the American Heart Association for the healthcare provider certifications required within 3 months of hire
