Job Summary:

HCA HealthONE Rocky Mountain Children’s is seeking a full-time Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing Congenital Heart Center. This is a unique opportunity to work with a high-performing, multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional care to children with congenital heart disease—all in the heart of Denver, Colorado.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Current licensure and certification (BLS and PALS required; ACLS preferred)
• Strongly preferred: experience in pediatric cardiology, CICU, and/or cardiothoracic surgery

Key Responsibilities:

Preoperative Phase:

• Perform comprehensive assessments and risk stratification
• Coordinate with surgical, anesthesia, cardiology, and ICU teams
• Educate families on procedures, expectations, and recovery
• Ensure completion of documentation, labs, imaging, and consents
  
  

Intraoperative Phase:

• Provide intraoperative support and first assist during surgery as credentialed
• Assist with positioning, sterile prep, and procedural setup
• Communicate updates to families during surgery
  
  

Postoperative Phase:

• Manage chest tubes, wounds, and lines as credentialed
• Monitor for complications and collaborate with the surgical team
• Support discharge planning, education, and follow-up care

• Part of HCA HealthONE, Denver’s largest hospital system and a division of HCA Healthcare, which includes over 185 hospitals nationwide
• Home to a growing cardiac surgical program with plans to care for all acuity/STAT categories.
• Dedicated 10-bed CICU with plans to expand with growth of the program
• 143 bed children’s hospital including 84 NICU beds and 10 PICU beds. We are the largest Level IV NICU in the region with a high-risk OB and Level IV maternal Deck.
• Active and expanding interventional cardiology and invasive electrophysiology (EP) programs
• Supported by a diverse medical staff of over 300 pediatric specialists, including neonatologists and maternal-fetal medicine experts
