Job Summary and Qualifications
The Staff Accountant, under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, is primarily responsible for the accounts payable functions and various accounting duties as assigned.
- Assist with maintenance of fixed assets in the FAS system and reconcile available capital balances monthly
- Prepares monthly account reconciliations
- Assist with the processing of accounts payable invoices – i.e. properly G/L coding of invoices; verify appropriate approvals; processing check requests; setting up vendor
- Perform financial analysis to identify variances and root causes
- Prepare journal entries
- Test, monitor, and document effectiveness of internal controls (including SOX, internal controls, financial control, operational control) in timely manner. Report control deficiencies in timely manner
- Assist in preparation of regulatory reports and work papers for tax returns
- Perform detailed analysis of the monthly income statement to identify variances and root causes
- Prepare physician payments
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the accounting department when needed to assist operations
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive material and information
- Establishes good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all personnel in the hospital including Physicians and staff members
- Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for the successful completion of job duties
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelors Degree in accounting or business administration with accounting emphasis or concentration
- CPA eligible
- 1 year related accounting experience preferred
- Strong computer skills across all other Microsoft Office Products
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot table)
- Big 4 experience preferred
- Working knowledge of general ledger system preferred
- Working knowledge of Lawson system preferred
