Job Summary and Qualifications
Methodist Children’s Hospital is seeking a Director, Methodist Children’s Heart Institute. This position plans, directs and supervises the operations of Methodist Children’s Hospital Congenital Heart Program. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of staff, budgeting, equipment and services for these areas or areas critical for the function of the Heart Institute (such as operative, clinic, office space, outreach, quality of care and related services, and family-patient non-clinical support). He/she is responsible for the quality of services for all the physician groups affiliated with or providing services to the Methodist Children’s Heart Institute, process improvements, and maintaining high standards of customer service for both internal and external customers to include physicians and their staff, patients/family members and the public. What You Will Do In Your Role:
- Works in harmony with the Clinical Lead of the Methodist Children’s Heart Institute for programmatic operations and clinical activities for the Methodist Children’s Congenital Heart Program.
- Oversees strategic direction and implementation of program initiatives of the Methodist Children’s Heart Institute.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders for the service line to achieve programmatic goals that support the function of the Methodist Children’s Heart Institute including, but not limited to, operative, clinic, office space, outreach, quality of care and related services, and family-patient non-clinical support.
- Promotes cohesiveness within the department by developing relationships with staff and physicians.
- Maintains regular line of communication with multidisciplinary team members and clearly outlines vision and goals for program.
- Leads development of robust marketing and outreach strategy, including web site development and symposium planning.
- Directs assigned staff and provides them the support, training and tools necessary for them to achieve their job and meet the department’s quality of service goal. Develops staff through feedbacks, coaching, training and mentoring. Maintains staff records competencies and ensures that all team members meet or exceed department specific, educational requirements.
- Proactively determines staffing and hiring needs and plans accordingly. Maintains payroll and ensures timely reporting. Calculates and monitors productivity, modifies staffing when necessary, and adjusts procedure schedules to enhance efficiency as authorized by the Cardiology Section Committee.
- Responsible for actively pursuing knowledge and ensuring compliance with JCAHO and all other regulatory bodies.
- Meets yearly budgets. Assists the Vice President in evaluating and projecting payroll, equipment, and supply costs for all areas supervised. Assists the Vice President with researching and evaluating all equipment purchases to ensure alignment with departmental budget and continuous delivery and improvement of services.
- Understands and enforces system, department and hospital policies and procedures as well as established rules and regulations.
- Promotes the Methodist Children’s Congenital Heart Program by interacting with key customers such as patients/families, physicians, physician’s offices, and other system or facility departments assuring that their needs are met. Promotes a positive image of Methodist Children’s Hospital.
What qualifications you will need (one of the following):
- (Non-RN)- Bachelor’s degree AND 2 years management experience in a Cardiac service area.
- RNs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Management of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent degree. MBA strongly preferred.
