Clinical Education Specialist

  • Twenty-four-hour emergency care, both at designated Hospital Emergency Centers and off-site Emergency Care locations
  • Life-saving intervention during cardiovascular and neurological incidents
  • Comprehensive women’s care, from obstetric care to minimally invasive gynecological surgery

  • Inpatient and outpatient surgery, rehabilitation, and monitoring support
  • Education programs – child birth and child care classes, surgical seminars, physician speaker series
  • Management centers for diabetes, heart failure, and other complex conditions
  • Community partnerships with the American Heart Association, Joe Niekro Foundation, March of Dimes, and others.
 
What you will do in this role:
 
The Clinical Education Specialist collaborates with the system educators, facility leadership, and internal and external sources, to enhance clinical practice, promote exceptional care standards, support recruitment and retention within the Gulf Coast Division (GCD) facilities. The position participates in the on-boarding process, development and education of clinical staff, consultations with identified facilities, units or business lines, development of training modules, simulation and/or curriculum, and role modeling service excellence behaviors to improve the patient experience and deliver excellent quality education. 
    • Identify educational needs and plan for the education of staff as related to general and specialty areas.
    • Utilize the theories and principles of adult education to foster the educational development of staff, patients, and families.
    • Assess educational needs and coordinate the development of appropriate materials to facilitate the education of staff.
    • Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation and problem solving skills.
    • Plan, develop, present, and evaluate educational programs related to new graduates, preceptors, and other experienced staff.
    • Provide for the dissemination of current information and theories necessary for the advancement of patient care.
    • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the research process and its implications for nursing practice.
    • Assess, plan and develop use of on line applications and simulation technology.
    • Consult and collaborate with facility educators, facility and unit leaders in program development, educational courses, equipment needs, Education Consortium and other areas as appropriate to facilitate exceptional care.

 

 

Qualifications

What qualifications you will need:
 
 

 Education:

Required: Bachelor s degree in nursing (BSN).

Texas RN license; Current BLS Provider; Recent health care experience and allied health license if not RN

Attainment of wide variety of people skills including a service orientation as demonstrated through examples of written and oral communication. Demonstrated experience in areas of planning and organization.  Basic proficiency in computer applications required. Must possess excellent communication, problem solving and leadership skills; must be able to work autonomously and collaboratively.

Experience: Three years of clinical experience in an acute care setting and experience with formalized course development and instruction.

Preferred: Certification in Specialty; BLS, ACLS, PALS, and/or TNCC Instructor
