Job Summary And Qualifications

The Echocardiographer I assists with stress testing and other non-invasive cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing procedures upon the request of the physician and according to departmental demands.

• Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures including, transthoracic, transesophageal, stress echo (treadmill or pharmacological), cardiac Doppler and color flow Doppler.
• Prepares and administers cardiac contrast agents as needed.
• Responsible for performing quality echocardiographic exams.
• Enters echocardiographic data into structured reporting template and prepares paperwork for physician interpretation.
• Responsible for high-level disinfection and sterilization of TEE probes.
• Maintaining ultrasound equipment. Documents required data.
• Assumes the responsibilities specified by the Technical Director for ICAEL.
• Works under appropriate supervision of a credentialed sonographer only.
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
• Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  
  

What qualifications you will need:

• Certificate from Ultrasound school or program
• Sonographer, or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• BLS certification required
