Job Summary And Qualifications
Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician Specialist assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining accurate records. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmacy operations, sterile compounding techniques, and a commitment to patient safety. The Pharmacy Technician Specialist may also be involved in training and mentoring other pharmacy technicians.
Major Responsibility:
Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently. Perform sterile product compounding in accordance with USP standards. Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals. Maintain accurate inventory and records. Assist in training and mentoring other pharmacy technicians. Prepare medications for dispensing, including counting, measuring, and labeling. Compound sterile products, including IV admixtures, using aseptic technique. Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, including compounding devices and automated dispensing systems. Receive and process prescriptions, verifying accuracy and completeness. Answer phone calls and address patient inquiries. Maintain inventory levels and order medications and supplies. Assist with medication reconciliation and prior authorization processes. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Train and mentor new pharmacy technicians. Assist pharmacists with clinical activities as needed.
