Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible to follow hospital and AAMI standards andpolicies asrelated to cleaning, decontamination and processing of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment performed in the Central Sterile Supply Department. Responsible for the day-to-day workflow of the department and the efficiency and quality of the work performed within the department. Participates in Performance Improvement projects.Assumesweekends, on-call,holidaysand shift responsibilities as assigned. Maintains education through attendance of allmandatoryin services and self-study. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employeemust have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
CLINICAL CRITERIA (use as applicable)
Manages staff to ensure quality of work.
Monitors/evaluates customer satisfaction surveys toidentifystrengths/weaknesses of Dept.
Keeps the Department Director informed of any unusual concerns,situationsor conditionsrelativeto patients and medical staff.
Assistsstaff members inestablishinggoals andobjectivesfor individual growth/development.
Keeps andmaintainsall records of safety and quality controls within the department.
Evaluates and recommendspurchaseof instruments,repairsand capital equipment.
Recognizes/develops new services/processes to present toDepartmentDirector asappropriate.
Collaborates with others in planning patient care.
Responds promptly and accurately to meet patient's needs.
In conjunction with other members of the health care team, plans formaintaininginstrumentation levels to meet needs.
Recognizes patients’ needs to assert independence and reluctance to express dependency needs and anxiety about hospitalization.
Adheres to aseptictechnique.
Administers medication safely and accuratelyutilizingthe “5 rights”.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Associate Degree
- (CRCST) Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or (CIS) Certified Instrument Specialist, or (CHL) Certified Healthcare Leader must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
