Please apply online for the first phase of our hiring process.
Job Description:
If you thrive outdoors, take pride in your work, and enjoy being part of a team that keeps things moving— this role is for you. As a Yard Associate, you are the backbone of our operation. You are the first face customers see when they pull in, and the person who makes sure every order is right before they leave. This is a physically active, fast-paced position that rewards dependability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. We invest in people who show up ready to work and take ownership of their role.
What You Will Do
Customer Service: Greet customers in the yard with a positive attitude, help them identify the right materials for their project, and ensure every order is loaded safely and correctly into their vehicle.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move, stage, and organize heavy building materials throughout the yard.
Receiving & Inventory: Unload and inspect incoming vendor deliveries, verify quantities against purchase orders, and restock materials in a way that keeps the yard organized and minimizes product damage.
Yard Maintenance: Keep the yard clean, organized, and hazard-free at all times — straightening lumber stacks, clearing debris, and maintaining a workspace that reflects our commitment to safety and professionalism.
Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all times, including safe operation of all yard equipment.
Order Fulfillment: Pull, stage, and verify customer and contractor orders with accuracy and efficiency, coordinating with inside sales staff to ensure a smooth customer experience.
What We Are Looking For
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred — but not required. We hire for attitude and work ethic first.
Experience: Prior experience in a lumberyard, building supply, construction, or warehouse environment is a plus. We are happy to train motivated candidates with no prior experience.
Technical Skills: Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math. Forklift certification is a plus —training is available for the right candidate.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Overtime may be required during peak seasons and is compensated accordingly.
Physical Requirements
Stamina: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout an 8–10 hour shift.
Environment: This is a year-round outdoor role. You will work in all weather conditions — heat, cold, wind, and rain. Comfort and the ability to work outside every day are essential.
There is a 90-Day Probation Period.
Benefits: Health Insurance, Vision and Dental Insurance options, Paid Holidays, Paid Time Off, FSA, Life Insurance, Employee Discount, and 401K after 2 years.
