About the Role:
This position will be a combination of technical and project management responsibilities.
As an Energy /Commissioning Engineer, your responsibilities will be to manage and provide technical support for multiple energy efficiency, and retro-commissioning projects simultaneously. You will oversee all aspects of projects including technical work, scheduling, budget management and client relationship management.
Responsibilities
Energy Auditing & Retro-Commissioning Projects
· Travel to sites to perform energy surveys and ASHRAE Level II Audits
· Develop Detailed Energy Savings Calculations
· Perform Measurement & Verification of Energy Efficiency Projects
· Provide energy modeling support as needed
· Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings
· Manage the planning, investigation and implementation phases of RCx
· Identify and verify implementation of low-cost energy conservation opportunities, and help facilitate the implementation of projects, initiatives, and programs that reduce energy consumption and demand
· Manage Subcontracted Energy Efficiency Projects
· Work with electric and gas utility incentive programs
· Act as lead engineer on various projects
· Manage client relationships; internally across MD/DC/VA and also externally
· Assist with process improvement, group operations and overall growth of the group
Other Responsibilities
· Responsible for personal time management
· Planning for project activities and keeping accurate records
· Technical report writing and editing
· Client management and communication
· Communication with other staff including Engineers and Administration Staff
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
· Minimum 2-5 years’ of industry experience with Energy/HVAC/Sustainability Commissioning,
Retro-Commissioning and/or MEP Design.
· Dedicated interest in facility energy systems, energy efficiency, operations & maintenance, and sustainable practices for new and existing buildings
· Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to grow
· Planning for project activities and keeping accurate records
· Excellent attention to detail and time management required
· Strong writing, communication, and computer skills
· Ability to travel as needed (50% travel)
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to perform complex Energy Savings Calculations
· Experience Benchmarking Facilities using EPA’s EnergyStar Portfolio Manager
· Familiarity with typical mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems in commercial and industrial facilities preferred
· Experience in Functional Testing of HVAC Equipment, Systems & Controls
· Experience in performing Commercial Lighting Audits
· Experience with Building Automation Systems and understanding of Sequences of Operation
