Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Technician works as a specialist and a lead worker in areas such as landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, irrigation, electrical, and equipment operation and maintenance. This position plans, assigns, and reviews the work of staff performing a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of campus grounds, structures, and equipment.

Supervision and Leadership:

Leads and supervises maintenance staff, including, training, and coaching.

Assigns tasks, monitors performance, and provides guidance.

Ensures adherence to safety protocols and regulations.

Maintenance and Repair:

Performs and oversees a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.

Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and system issues.

Repairs and replaces equipment and components.

Work Order Management:

Receives, organizes, and prioritizes maintenance work orders.

Ensures work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.

Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities.

Preventive Maintenance:

Develops and implements preventive maintenance programs.

Performs routine inspections and maintenance tasks.

Vendor Coordination:

Contacts and coordinates with vendors for repairs and services.

Oversees vendor work to ensure quality and timely completion.

Other Duties:

May oversee landscape and housekeeping functions.

Keeps the maintenance shop clean and organized.

Ensures the resolution of client issues and complaints.

Skills:

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other relevant trades.

Supervisory Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team of maintenance technicians.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance issues.

Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and community.

Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records.

Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities):

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to apply skilled techniques and use the tools of the following categories: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, small equipment repairs or welding.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Valid Driver License

Preferred education and experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience leading a maintenance team
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, pull, push 50 pounds, bending, standing and/or walking for long periods of time.

Must pass federal background check and vaccination requirements, including TB testing.

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $75,000.00 - $87,000.00 per year
