Position Summary
TPT is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee the CNC machining, manual machining, and maintenance departments for the Valencia, CA manufacturing site. In this role, the Production Supervisor will provide direction and leadership for all production machining and maintenance activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC) goals. The Production Supervisor will have direct responsibility for executing production workflows in a safe and cost-effective manner, while ensuring that a quality product is processed according to the manufacturing schedule. The Production Supervisor will communicate objectives and requirements to the manufacturing team and follow-up on all actions through completion. The Production Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager and supports the company’s mission, vision, and values.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure safety policies are followed, safety issues are addressed in a timely fashion, safety training is completed and serve as safety champion for the site.
- Ensure our production employees follow every instruction as specified in the quality management system for the parts they work on.
- Participate in Quality Stand-Up Meetings as a key contributor that receives Quality and Engineering feedback and uses the information to identify gaps in the manufacturing process, collaborate on immediate solutions, and provide corrective action to ensure that mistakes are not repeated.
- Interface and coordinate with peers in Production Control, Quality, and Engineering to receive and execute production schedules that provide on-time delivery to our customers.
- Establish a culture of standard work and accountability across the production team that provides an environment of stability and success.
- Lead a culture of 5S and continuous improvement through routine audits, coaching, and enforcement of policies: the Production Supervisor must be able to identify and explain “what good looks like” to their direct reports, engaging C.I. resources as required.
- Manage direct reports through on-boarding, training, coaching, performance management, and employee development to improve cross-training, eliminating skill-gaps on the factory floor.
- Lead daily production team meetings to communicate day-to-day production priorities, gather issues from the team, and eliminate obstacles in the way of winning the day.
- Execute daily standard work in the ERP system as specified for the production supervisor role. Ensure direct reports do the same every day per their ERP training, ex. transacting work orders.
- Perform administrative duties including payroll and timecard approval, vacation planning, operational refresher training, safety training and awareness.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 to 5 years of direct supervisory experience with responsibility for a large team of production employees.
- At least 3 years of factory floor experience in a CNC machining environment. ex. (VMC, HMC, Lathe)
- At least 2 years of experience working within an ERP system on the factory floor, ex. SAP, Oracle, QAD, MSFT d365.
- Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement tools, 5S methodology, and structured problem-solving processes
Preferred
- Flexibility to work a split shift across mid-morning through early evening
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with a AS9100 compliant quality management system.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs : spreadsheets for analytics, documents for communication, slide decks for teaching, and calendaring to manage time.
- Adept with utilizing digital timekeeping systems, and the discipline to keep them accurate.
