What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architect position at HB Design and Engineering Inc?
We are looking for a talented, driven Project Architect to join our team as our lead in house architect. This is not a support role. You will take full ownership of architectural deliverables and be accountable for quality, timelines, and outcomes from concept through construction. Working closely with our engineering team, municipal planners, and third party consultants, you will be the primary architectural voice on every development we pursue.
What You'll Do:
- Take end-to-end ownership of projects from concept through construction, serving as the primary architectural point of contact for each development
- Lead schematic design and conceptual planning for ground up multifamily projects
- Prepare and manage site plans, entitlement submittals, and zoning applications
- Produce complete construction documents and permit drawing packages
- Oversee construction administration activities, including site visits, RFIs, submittals, and change management
- Coordinate with civil, structural, MEP, and other engineering consultants
- Interface directly with municipalities, building departments, and land use staff
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations throughout all project phases
- Manage design timelines and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects
- Support due diligence on land acquisitions from an architectural and entitlement perspective
What We're Looking for:
- 3 years of professional multifamily architectural experience
- Multifamily residential experience is required. You must have designed or documented apartment or mixed use projects
- A self starter who takes ownership, meets deadlines, and does not need to be managed step by step
- Florida architectural license strongly preferred. License eligible candidates will be considered
- Solid understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction management practices
- Experience with affordable housing or HUD regulated projects is a strong plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced development environment
- Strong communication skills. You will interface with public agencies, consultants, and community stakeholders
