Purpose & Objective of Position:
- Oversees plant operations from the control room, this position reports directly to the (CRS) Control Room Supervisor and the CRS reports to the plant Process Manager.
- To be successful in this position an individual needs to be able to be trained and or has acquired knowledge through working in various positions at the plant: (needs to be technical minded and have a systematic approach to making adjustments or solving process issues, must understand or have ability to be trained regarding process flow of material, able to identify equipment by name and explain how each equipment operates in the process, ability to communicate clearly and precise by radio or in person, requires the ability to stand or sit in one location for a minimum (12) hour shift, ability to monitor computer screens and make adjustments to the process based on working knowledge and or on-the- job training to operate the plant efficiently).
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must be able to read and write clearly, position requires maintaining shift reports, logging data for managers, and understanding/reviewing previous shift data trend at shift change
- Responsible for maintaining a record of moisture samples and understands the importance of incoming raw material product mix and how that impacts plant production
- Collects the process and fire dump samples and responsible for recording the data
- Works closely with the CRS and the CRS updates the Process Manager when assisting with stopping and starting equipment due to process interruption events
- Communicates clearly with process or maintenance during repairs to understand what equipment is being worked on and that proper equipment lockout procedures are performed by those performing work with assisting with equipment lockout verification
- Plant operation & maintenance relies on this position to help identify any process related concerns before it happens by studying each area of the plant by monitoring the computer for key indicators such as change in the (following: motor amp readings, moisture data trends, heat profiles, deluge type alarms, equipment fault rotations, & process flow changes due to mix or moisture changes are just a few of the many examples)
- Must be able to safely start and stop plant operations during normal plant startup & scheduled down procedures
- Must be able to safely stop the plant during an emergency event as explained in the emergency shutdown procedures
- Requires frequent communication throughout the shift with the shift leader, press operator, loader operator, and QC lab
- Understands the importance of ensuring all temperature probes, pressure drop indicators, spark detection devices, air locks, dampers, & or cameras are operating and if not it is communicated immediately to the CRS (Control Room Supervisor) for attention/repair

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for communicating with control operator leaving the shift, questioning shift with general overview of events, and what changes if any were made to material feed rate and or mix
- Required to email a shift summary report to all management personnel prior to the end of each shift
- This position is in the center of all communications involving plant equipment start/stop, material mix change, increase or reduction with incoming material feed, & die specification changes in order to maximize pelleting throughput
- After training can efficiently and effectively operate both the dry & reclaim side of the plant operations
- Understands how the furnace gases and chamber temperatures interact with heat to the dryer for desired moisture % in the wood
- Knows how much dry material to process through the system with the green material to maximize pellet production
- Ability to understand and manage continued plant operations by adjusting the incoming material feed and discharge feed so process or maintenance can troubleshoot equipment issues
- Communicates with Press Operators or Press Area Supervisor to slow or speed up presses to prevent clogging or running out of material during an upset process condition
- Responsible for making sure the Air Control Devices (RTO, WESP, & or RCO) are operating efficiently and the parameters of operating are in alignment with most previous Air Compliance Testing profiles for the following: (temperatures, pressure drops, KV/Power, & TR efficiency)
- Must have WESP knowledge related to flush timing, frequency of flush cycles and what that may indicate, PH % in water and target PH levels, caustic & defoaming rates to accomplish target WESP operations
- Responsible for moving or notifying scale attendant to move the radial arm stacker to optimize pad area with material and to prevent cross contamination of raw material on the pad
Job Requirements:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent required
- Must be able to meet shift production and quality metrics for plant
- Willing to help with other tasks at the plant as assigned by the Shift Leader or Process Manager
- Must report any incidents or near miss immediately to your Shift Leader
- Must maintain good housekeeping inside the control room area
- Good verbal, written, and typing communication skills are vital for this position
- Ability to climb, sit, reach, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs. without any difficulties during plant scheduled shutdowns or as needed outside the control room office area
- Willing to work any schedule and or overtime as required
