Supervisor: Principal
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
An Associate’s Degree or higher, preferably in education
Job Goal
To assist with the maintenance of student records and in helping students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational, occupational and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature, responsible men and women
Demonstration of Professionalism
- Uses correct oral and written communication
- Adheres to the board/school policies
- Maintains positive atmosphere with students, teachers and community
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with scheduling appointments of students for developmental counseling as needed
- Assists in the maintenance of student records
- Assists with individual and/or group standardized testing
- Assists in reviewing students' progress at the end of each grading period
- Keeps accurate records of entering and withdrawing students (dates, schools...)
- Assists with maintenance of MSIS release, request, and addition of, student information in a timely manner
- Assists with the completion of transcripts in a timely manner
- Assists with clerical functions in the counseling office
- Any other assigned duties by the Counselor and/or principal
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Employees
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to be exposed to chemicals
