Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a strategic, collaborative Web Communications Manager to oversee, maintain, and continuously evolve our corporate website. This role acts as the central hub for our digital presence, combining hands-on content management, search optimization, and collaborative project management to keep our website fresh, accurate, and forward-looking.

As an employee-owned firm founded in 1951, Hazen values creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. This role is part of Hazen's creative services team, working alongside writers, designers, video producers, and engineering stakeholders to translate technical expertise into engaging web experiences for our internal and external audiences.

Why Hazen and Sawyer:

  • Founded in 1951 by the son of Allen Hazen (developer of the Hazen-Williams equation), we are an employee-owned company with a singular focus on "all things water."
  • Our work includes planning, design, and oversight of construction of environmental infrastructure – for water, wastewater, and stormwater management.
  • We foster a work environment low on bureaucracy and high in creativity.
  • We recruit talented professionals, provide them with challenging, interesting, and creative assignments, and furnish them with the tools they need to succeed.
  • We currently have over 2,400 employees in 90 offices throughout the United States, Latin America, Canada, and the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a complete backend website migration, including vetting new Content Management Systems (CMS) and managing an external agency partner throughout the transition.
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact and platform owner for the new CMS post-migration, ensuring smooth adoption and ongoing system health.
  • Manage day-to-day website updates, page builds, and content publishing workflows.
  • Collaborate regularly with internal writers, graphic designers, and video editors to gather, organize, and integrate digital assets for new web pages and projects.
  • Develop and drive an ongoing search visibility strategy, optimizing content for SEO, AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization).
  • Act as the primary liaison with internal subject matter experts, leadership, and external partners to ensure technical information, project profiles, and service pages remain accurate and up to date.
  • Proactively identify content gaps, pitch new web projects, and suggest user experience (UX) improvements to push the website forward.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive digital content calendar to coordinate timely publishing across departments.
  • Establish, monitor, and report website analytics (e.g., GA4, Search Console) to track page performance, audit traffic, and inform future content strategies and site refreshes.
  • Manage multiple digital projects simultaneously and work efficiently under deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in website management, digital content operations, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in modern Content Management Systems with direct experience in WordPress, Contentful, HubSpot, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of basic HTML and CSS for formatting adjustments and backend troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of modern search strategies (SEO/AEO/GEO) and web analytics platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with writers, designers, technical engineers, and stakeholders, including taking direction and incorporating feedback.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to maintain regular update cycles and guide projects from concept to final publication,
  • Strong editorial eye and attention to detail to ensure consistency in brand voice, styling, and formatting across all web properties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
  • Experience managing digital content in corporate, technical, engineering, environmental, or B2B settings.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and ADA compliance.
  • Familiarity with project management platforms (such as monday.com) to track content workflows and automate team collaboration.

What We Offer:

  • Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision, and prescription plans)
  • Pre-tax flexible spending plans for medical, dependent care, and transportation
  • Short and long-term disability, and employer paid life insurance
  • Paid holidays, floating holidays, and paid time off (PTO)
  • Employer-contributed 401(k) plan and additional financial planning support
