Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer for our Knoxville or Chattanooga offices. As part of our design and process teams, you will work on water and wastewater projects, including drinking water/wastewater/reuse treatment facility upgrades, conveyance systems, stormwater management, water resources, and asset management. Candidates shall have experience in municipal water/wastewater design, project management, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluation, planning, and design of water, wastewater, stormwater, reuse, and infrastructure projects.
- Project management including organizing staff assignments, invoicing, budgeting, and client deliverables.
- Supervision of junior staff.
- Lead business development activities including preparation of proposals and presentations.
- Construction management services including construction administration, project start-up, and project closeout.
- Fieldwork and site visits from design through design and construction may be required with occasional travel.
Required Qualifications:
- 7 – 12 years of experience in the water/wastewater field.
- Experience managing interdisciplinary teams to effectively meet the client’s needs.
- Experience in successfully delivering projects with collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in planning, design, and construction for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Self-starter with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in all MS Office based computer software.
- PE license is required (TN preferred or ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of employment).
- B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, or Biosystems Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s) of Science or Engineering from an ABET-accredited U.S. program (other engineering degrees considered case by case).
