Hazelett Corporation is a global leader in continuous metal casting technology. Our strip-casting machines integrate mechanical, electrical, thermal, and automation systems to produce materials used in automotive structural components, aluminum foil, lead-acid batteries, and copper wiring. Position Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will enhance manufacturing processes through advanced engineering practices, complex problem-solving, and project management. You will lead capital and process-improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, reduce costs, strengthen safety, and maintain high product-quality standards.

This position is onsite.

What You Will Do

  • Lead capital and process-improvement projects aligned with company objectives, incorporating safety, risk mitigation, and operational-performance goals.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data to evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes.
  • Recommend improvements to existing equipment and help identify new equipment that can improve safety, quality, productivity, and operating costs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to determine product and equipment specifications, coordinate purchases, and evaluate equipment, parts, and materials for quality, performance, and safety.
  • Facilitate product-development meetings and provide manufacturing input.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and support continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Support company policies, procedures, goals, objectives, and good manufacturing practices.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, including tools such as 5S, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience applying continuous-improvement principles within a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD software, with the ability to create detailed designs and specifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on root cause analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with technical documentation and presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with experience using data-analysis tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience is preferred.
  • Related internship experience is preferred.

Work Environment

This role combines office and manufacturing environments and may include occasional travel to customer and supplier sites. Candidates must be comfortable working around production equipment and may be exposed to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery. The position also requires the ability to perform moderate lifting. Safety shoes and safety glasses must be worn when working in production areas.

The base pay range for this full-time position is $80,000 – $100,000. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
