What are the responsibilities and job description for the Take Off Engineer - Civil Construction position at Hazard Construction?
Hazard Construction Companies is seeking a takeoff engineer with 1-3 years of experience in heavy highway construction. Candidate will contribute to a variety of projects including but not limited to site development, military, and DOT(Caltrans). We work on a variety of grading, asphalt paving and site improvement projects and seek a motivated individual to assist our estimators and project managers in the successful execution of these proposals and projects. Responsibilities:
· Assist estimating staff by performing digital quantity takeoffs for heavy-civil construction projects including grading, paving, concrete and site improvements.
· Create 2D/3D drawings, sketches, exhibits and models for estimating quantities and operations use in the field.
· Read/review plans, specifications, and other contract documents in order to perform quantity takeoffs that meet project requirements.
· Assist estimators with soliciting quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers, proposal preparation and sub/vendor quote comparison.
· Assist project team with performing quantity takeoffs and tracking quantities throughout the construction phase.
· Build overall estimating skills and develop a deeper knowledge of estimating process.
· Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Requirements:
· Hard-working individual who is eager to learn and develop their construction knowledge and skills and who thrives in a teamwork environment.
· Knowledge of heavy-civil construction projects.
· The individual must be highly organized and able to communicate work product to others.
· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or other related field.
· Excellent communication, presentation and computer skills.
· Willingness to be flexible and occasionally work long hours to meet estimate deadlines.
· Software Experience (required): Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam
· Software Experience (preferred): Agtek, GPS (Trimble or Topcon), AutoCAD
