Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Fitness/Aquatics Supervisor, the Fitness Program Specialist will administer and maintain high quality standards for all aspects of medically integrated programs. Assists in designing, implementing and maintaining a variety of member programs. Independently performs member orientations and assessments at the Center for Health Improvement; maintains, reviews, interprets, and incorporates member exercise program and goals through data software. Ensures exercise prescriptions meet overall standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
Coordinating Member/Patients across different healthcare settings and levels of care.
Integrating clinical processes and workflows to fitness programs.
Oversee, ensure compliance, and actively participate with all physician approval and clearance procedures, pre- and post-program assessments, and medically integrated programs.
Work collaboratively to develop, implement and maintain medical referral pathways.
Serve as a communications liaison among center and referral sources.
Work with center membership team to assist in the transition of participants to membership following completion of program and improve retention of current members.
Ensure that all medically integrated program participants are provided an individual exercise program based on assessment results and appropriate communication with referral source.
Assist in providing participant outcome reports for the referring healthcare provider and The Center.
Respond to member feedback with a high level of professionalism.
Able to perform all the duties outlined in the Fitness Assistant/Specialist/Coach job descriptions as needed.
Encourage associate professional growth through training, supervision, empowerment, continuous performance management and feedback.
Conduct and/or participate in regularly scheduled staff and/or management meetings.
Assist with training Fitness Associates.
Maintain friendly, well-trained and customer service-oriented staff and inter-department relationships.
Additional Responsibilities:
Be proficient in all core business software as it relates to job duties and responsibilities.
Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals.
The ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to center hours, work scheduled and scheduling appointments for prospects and members.
Must meet all safety requirements and certifications necessary to perform job duties.
Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures including the use of facility paging system and confidence in calling and communicating with EMS.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during interactions and work-related relationships with all persons at The Center including but not limited to members, guests and Associates.
Conducts special projects and programs for the community, along with public speaking.
Demonstrate The Center's Core Values & Beliefs and complies with Medical Fitness Association (MFA).
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education
Required:
Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university in exercise science, kinesiology or in a related health field.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service-based manner.
Ability to multitask and maintain a controlled and professional manner.
Proficient computer skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) within the first two weeks of employment
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within the first two weeks of employment.
Basic First Aid certification within the first six months after hire.
Nationally recognized certification through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) through a credential health/fitness association or Athletic Training Certification (ATC) required within first year of hire.
Preferred:
Master's Degree preferred.
Experience in fitness testing and exercise program design.
