A well known General Contracting company is looking for a Project Accountant to join their team in Deerfield Beach, FL!
Your New Role
In this role, you will attend job turnover meetings for newly assigned projects and establish and maintain organized electronic project files containing all relevant documentation such as owner contracts, change orders, billings, and payment records. You will input contract details, budgets, purchase orders, subcontractor modifications, and change orders into the accounting system and prepare project billing worksheets to support monthly AIA billings. This position is responsible for generating owner billings, reviewing and approving job-related check requests, processing project-related invoices, and ensuring all overhead and job costs are captured accurately and paid on time.
The Project Accountant will post monthly accounts receivable and payable activity in support of month-end close and prepare weekly Project Accountant Checklists for review by the CFO and Controller. Regular participation in monthly project review and closeout meetings is expected. Ongoing communication with Project Executives, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators is essential to resolve outstanding items, address potential issues early, and provide timely financial insights to management. Special accounting projects may be assigned as business needs arise.

Candidates must be comfortable working in a team environment, interacting with diverse stakeholders, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. An associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, with two to three years or more of related accounting or project accounting experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and formulas, is essential, along with strong skills in Microsoft Word. Experience using ComputerEase is required, and familiarity with Procore is a plus.
