Estimating & Business Development Manager - Specialty Mill-work (millwork) Contractor - Lead Estimator

I am partnered with a specialty mill-work contractor that focuses on high-end architectural woodworking. Overseeing both the manufacturing and installation, they collaborate with general contractors, architects and interior designers to create timeless design for mainly commercial clientele across the tri-state area.
This firm has proven experience in winning project work across Corporate Interiors, Residential, Healthcare, Retail & Hospitality and Public Sector work. They are one of the leaders in the industry when it comes to millwork.
Your new role
They are seeking a Senior Estimator /Estimating & Business Development Manager to join their team whose main responsibility will be to generate pricing estimates for interior fit-out and renovation projects across the tri-state area. This individual will have the ability to deal with deadlines and create several estimates simultaneously at any one time. You will have experience of estimating interiors projects focusing on millwork specifically. The successful individual will have a proven background bidding mill-work projects.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Reading blueprints, sketches and construction schedules
- Creating take-offs from architectural drawings
- Estimate projects with accuracy, speed and efficiency via our company’s estimating system
- Liaise with vendors, Project Management teams, Architects, and General Contractors
- Presenting to clients and walking them through the bid
- You must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, and experience using Planswift / OST is a plus.
- Value Engineering
- Having proven contacts in the NYC millwork industry is also a big plus.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful individual will have a minimum of 3 years’ prior estimating experience and be comfortable bidding on projects valued to $2M. The ideal individual will hold a construction-related degree in either Construction Management, Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
