Role Purpose:

The Global Head of Talent and Performance will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we have the talent pipelines and performance edge to drive sustainable business success.

The Global Head of Talent & Performance will be responsible for talent management, succession planning and performance management (Be My Best) frameworks, processes, best practices and adoption. The role holder will leverage insight from P&C teams to shape and develop innovative strategies to identify, develop, and retain high potential talent, collaborating closely with Heads of P&C/Commercial People Partners and the Learning team who will drive global/local execution. This role will be crucial in strengthening our high-performance culture.


Key Responsibilities:

Performance:

  • Implement and ensure continuous improvement of Hays global performance management process (Being my Best) to ensure alignment with Hays strategic goals and colleague engagement.
  • Develop, launch and update a Playbook to support the roll out of Culture Amp as the destination platform to create goals, prepare for performance review conversations, capture ratings and drive feedback; ensuring the global adoption and utilisation of Culture Amp platform.
  • Develop and continuously improve all supporting training and comms materials to support the adoption of the Culture Amp Perform module.
  • Ensure the systems workflow and windows are fit for purpose to ensure the global completion of goals, mid-year and end of year reviews. Report global completion rates to the PLT.
  • Develop communication materials and collaborate with Comms teams to ensure timely messages / calls to action to drive global adoption. Respond to queries from colleagues and from admin rights role holders in a timely way.
  • Review and testing of future systems releases ensuring collaboration and alignment with Legal and Data / privacy stakeholders – particularly related to AI usage and developing functionality.
  • Collaborate closely with Global experiences team and regional teams on ratings calibration and reporting.


Talent Management:

  • Input to the evolution of an overarching, inclusive talent strategy for Hays
  • Identify and specify the requirements for talent development programs to build a robust leadership pipeline, focusing on high-potential talent (identified successors) as well as an emerging global talent pool:
  • Collaborate with P & C Directors and their teams to identify emerging talent and their development needs.
  • Manage the external assessment process of emerging talent and the internal 360’process, ensuring the output shapes robust personal development plans.
  • Leverage the overall talent insights to inform and shape the initial design of a global emerging talent programme.
  • Collaborate with Global and Regional Learning Heads to finalise the design, implement and track progress / ROI
  • Partner with P&C teams to facilitate cross-functional projects (sponsored by ELT members) and knowledge sharing.
  • For bespoke talent development programs (for example: Women in Operational leadership) design and delivery of this programme with agreed ROI (leveraging external third parties where needed/affordable).


Succession Planning:

  • Continually refine the global approach to succession planning to meet business requirements in a simple and robust manner.
  • Collaborate with Regional P&C Directors and their teams to ensure delivery of outcomes and actions resulting from succession planning and talent reviews.
  • Secure inputs to ELT/PLC talent and succession planning reviews to ensure a skilled, diverse and ready pipeline of future leaders, with clear resulting actions.
  • Ensure outputs from global talent reviews are actioned.

Insight & Analysis:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all talent & succession planning and performance initiatives using metrics and feedback loops, making data-driven decisions and recommendations to enhance outcomes and ROI.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in performance management, talent and succession planning to continuously innovate and improve.


Skills and Experience:

  • Leads with impact - Demonstrable experience setting and executing global or regional -wide talent, succession and performance frameworks that deliver clear business outcomes (e.g. stronger leadership pipelines, improved performance, increased internal mobility).
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, global or regional -wide initiatives, ensuring pace, alignment and measurable benefits, from conception to execution. Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building strong partnerships across the people & culture function and wider business to deliver shared outcomes.
  • Builds trust at senior level - Proven credibility operating in a global, matrix organisation, partnering and collaborating effectively with regional teams to shape and deliver people priorities.
  • Develops future-ready leaders - Strong track record of designing and delivering leadership development interventions that accelerate readiness of successors and builds diverse, sustainable talent pipelines.
  • Champions inclusion - Clear evidence of embedding inclusion and into talent and performance practices, using insight and action to improve access, progression and representation.
  • Drives performance through insight - highly data-literate, with the ability to translate people analytics into clear insight, recommendations and decisions that improve organisational performance.
