Role Description The Surgery Scheduler is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama Area. This role is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, including confirming dates and times with surgeons, patients, and hospital or surgery center staff. The position involves verifying insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and ensuring that all necessary documentation and pre-operative requirements are completed accurately and on time. The Surgery Scheduler will communicate frequently with patients by phone, provide clear instructions about pre- and post-operative processes, and answer scheduling-related questions. Additional responsibilities include maintaining organized surgical calendars, updating the medical office systems with accurate information, collaborating with clinical and administrative teams, and supporting a smooth patient experience from initial scheduling through follow-up.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in surgery scheduling and coordinating surgical procedures, with attention to detail and timelines.
- Experience with insurance verification and authorization processes, including working with various payers.
- Professional phone etiquette and clear communication skills for interacting with patients, clinicians, and facility staff.
