The Legal Assistant provides essential administrative and clerical support to attorneys and paralegals. This role ensures the smooth operation of daily legal office functions, supports case preparation, and helps maintain accurate and organized documentation. It’s a position that blends precision, confidentiality, and strong organizational skills.
Compensation:$18 - $20 hourly
Responsibilities:- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments for attorneys
- Answer and route phone calls, emails, and correspondence
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, letters, and reports
- Assist with drafting basic legal documents such as memos, cover letters, and forms
- File legal documents with courts or administrative agencies as required
- Manage billing, timekeeping, and expense reports
- Support office operations such as ordering supplies and managing mail
- 3 – 5 years of experience supporting litigation, criminal/civil law practices. (with references)
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- AA degree
- Able to search clerk of court websites and obtain information about cases (judge name/filing dates/parties to the case/court dates)
- Familiarity with court filing systems (e-filing)
- Must have reliable transportation: (local errands to courthouse/law office/supplies)
- Proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office, case management systems)
