This exempt position’s primary role is to provide both strategic and tactical business development support for the Intellectual Property department to which the individual is assigned.

The Business Development Manager reports directly to the Senior Manager of Business Development.

Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience
At least 7 years marketing, promotion, or related experience required. Law firm or professional services experience preferred. Strong computer proficiency a must, with particular knowledge of InterAction, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and a variety of leading edge competitive and business intelligence tools. An insatiable intellectual curiosity and a desire to become completely immersed in the business of the group(s) assigned to the individual.
Skills
Strong writing, proofreading and verbal communication skills. Flexible and organized with the ability to deal with many different personalities, multiple demands, and the pressure of meeting deadlines. Strong work ethic and clear understanding of client service and working as a member of a team. Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment is a must. A sense of urgency, ability to efficiently manage time and attention to detail are required.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Business.
Physical Demands
Remains stationary at least 75% of the time. When coordinating/attending special events, might be required to move around up to 100% of the time. This position constantly operates computers, printers and other office productivity machines (e.g., fax machine, copier, etc.) Occasionally required to move documents or files weighing up to 15 lbs. This position requires constant communication and exchange of information with the firm attorneys, vendors, clients and staff. This position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time.
Working Conditions
Office environment. Work frequently requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position. Travel may be required.

Essential Duties
- Help develop and execute group marketing/business development strategies, plans and projects.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating new business opportunities and targets, facilitating cross-selling initiatives, participating on client-specific target teams, maintaining sales pipeline, and supporting deal/case tracking.
- Support all group RFP/RFI/Proposal/Pitch opportunities.
- Support all awards and ranking submissions for the practice.
- Work with the Public Relations group to secure effective exposure in the media for the group, its leading attorneys and accomplishments.
- Ensure group business development and marketing initiatives are being executed at the local, regional and national level.
- Coordinate and manage group events, sponsorship activities, advertisements, speaking engagements, etc., in conjunction with the firm’s Events Specialists.
- Develop and manage the group business development and marketing budget(s).
