Senior SQL Developer

Position Summary
The Senior SQL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data solutions that enable business reporting, analytics, and system integrations. This role requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft SQL Server—particularly SSIS, SSRS, and complex stored procedures—combined with strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with business users.
The individual will initially focus on learning and supporting legacy systems, understanding how data underpins key business processes, and then applying that knowledge to enterprise reporting platforms and a new SaaS solution. Success in this role requires curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable, well-designed data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
SQL Development & Data Engineering
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL Server stored procedures, views, and functions
- Build and support SSIS packages for ETL, data integration, and data migration between systems
- Develop and maintain SSRS reports, dashboards, and data models to support business operations and leadership reporting
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and data integrity across all database solutions
Business Partnership & Analysis
- Work directly with business users to understand workflows, reporting needs, and operational processes
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions that accurately reflect how data supports the business
- Act as a trusted technical partner, explaining data concepts and system behavior in clear, business-friendly terms
- Quickly learn and document business processes embedded within legacy systems
Legacy Systems & Modernization
- Analyze and support existing legacy databases, reports, and integrations
- Document data structures, transformations, and business logic within legacy environments
- Lead or support the migration of legacy reporting and data processes to enterprise reporting platforms and a modern SaaS application
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and modernize data and reporting architectures
Enterprise Reporting & SaaS Enablement
- Partner with application, integration, and business teams to enable reporting from SaaS platforms
- Support data extraction, transformation, and validation as part of SaaS adoption
- Ensure continuity of critical reports and metrics during system transitions
- Promote best practices for enterprise data governance, documentation, and reporting standards
Collaboration & Quality
- Collaborate closely with application developers, integration teams, and IT leadership
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities
- Maintain clear documentation for data models, ETL processes, and reporting logic
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning efforts
Required Qualifications
- Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Advanced expertise in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
- Advanced expertise in SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
- Strong experience developing complex stored procedures and T-SQL
- Proven ability to analyze and support legacy systems
- Experience migrating or modernizing data and reporting solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with business users and stakeholders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise reporting or BI platforms
- Exposure to SaaS systems and cloud-based data architectures
- Experience with PostgreSQL (Postgres), particularly in SaaS or cloud-hosted environments
- Experience with data modeling and performance optimization
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery environments
- Background in environments undergoing system modernization or digital transformation

Salary : $106,165 - $124,900
