Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Analyze specification charts, samples, and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of
machine requirements.
• Use sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan operations for the
fabrication of dies, tools, and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency.
• Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial
indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, and micrometers.
• Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and dies and to repair and
modify gauges, jigs, and dies.
• Design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products
and parts.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems and performs repairs on tools, manually
operated dies and progressive dies.
• Communicate daily with your direct supervisor and maintenance leadership regarding
your assignments and the current statuses of machines.
• Provide regular and consistent updates on machine conditions, maintenance progress,
and any issues that may impact production.
• Interfaces with external and internal customers, handles supplier and customer
concerns, and works with team members to solve problems during the production
process.
• Files and finishes workpieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are
smooth and that they fit together properly.
• Selects the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring
they meet project specifications.
• Suggest improvements and enhancements to the preventive maintenance schedule for
machines.
• Provide timely updates on maintenance activities to avoid major downtime.
• Conduct regular inspections of machines, following standard operating procedures
(SOP), and instructions.
• Consult manuals and seek clarification when necessary to ensure proper operation and
maintenance of machines.
• Continuously monitor production line efficiency. Promptly engage with the operations
and production teams to address and resolve issues that require attention.
• Respond promptly to requests and inquiries from your maintenance leadership
regarding production lines and any issues on the line.
• Ensure timely communication is provided to prevent misunderstandings and minimize
any machine downtime.
• Prepare and provide reports and updates as required by your leader and management.
Share insights and information relevant to machine performance and maintenance
activities.
• Collaborate with your leadership to understand and execute assignments that align with
your skillset and expertise. Report on the progress of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
• Perform general maintenance work on buildings as assigned.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment including propane forklifts.
• Maintain cleanliness of area according to 5S principles to provide a safe and effective
working space.
• Support and provides input for continuous improvement activities.
• Support with on-the-job training for other team members of the maintenance team.
• Act as a team player within the maintenance team. Offers support, guidance, and
assistance to your colleagues when they require help with maintenance tasks.
• Support in all areas as needed and requested by supervisor or another member of the
management team.
Personal Qualifications
• Commitment to safety and to adhere to all safety rules.
• Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six
months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
• Knowledge of how to operate grinders, lathes, milling machines, etc.
• Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.
• Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
• Able to repair, modify and develop tooling to print.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings
• Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations.
• Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.
• Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
• Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
• Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and ensure accuracy.
• Demonstrates ability to work in team, treat colleagues with respect and has a high level
of accountability / punctuality.
• Proven record of strong attendance.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Bilingual – Spanish Preferred
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 25-50 lbs. and must be able to co-lift up to 50-100 lbs.
