Overview
Orthopedic Sports Institute is a physician-owned orthopedic practice and ambulatory surgery center dedicated to providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care. We offer a full spectrum of orthopedic services, including sports medicine, joint replacement, trauma, hand surgery, and general orthopedics. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing team.
Position Summary
The Orthopedic APP will work collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons in both clinic and surgical settings. This position involves evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, assisting in surgery, managing postoperative care, and delivering high-quality orthopedic services throughout the patient care continuum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic orthopedic conditions.
- Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies, including radiographs, MRI, CT scans, and laboratory tests.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and rehabilitation plans.
- Perform orthopedic procedures within scope of practice, including:
- Joint injections and aspirations
- Casting and splinting
- Fracture management
- Wound care and suture removal
- Manage postoperative follow-up and ongoing patient care.
Surgical Responsibilities
- First assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures (if qualified and credentialed).
- Participate in preoperative assessments and postoperative management.
- Assist with patient positioning, surgical exposure, wound closure, and dressing application.
- Coordinate perioperative care with ambulatory surgery center staff.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.
- Collaborate with referring providers, therapists, and ancillary staff.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Support compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
QualificationsRequired
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current state licensure as a PA or NP.
- NCCPA certification (PA) or national board certification (NP).
- Current DEA registration or eligibility.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
Preferred
- Orthopedic, sports medicine, emergency medicine, or surgical experience.
- Experience assisting in orthopedic surgery.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center environment.
- ACLS certification.
- EMR proficiency.
