Position Summary
Hayden Industrial is seeking a Global Standards Engineer to own and coordinate product certification, regulatory compliance and applicable engineering standards across its global product portfolio.
The role will support Hayden’s Dry Cooler, CRAH and Air-Cooled Heat Exchanger product lines, covering equipment supplied into data center, industrial cooling and legacy power-generation markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that products are designed, manufactured, documented and certified in accordance with applicable requirements in the United States, European Union and United Kingdom.
The position will have broad responsibility across pressure equipment, mechanical construction, electrical safety, product certification and manufacturing compliance. A key initial priority will be the ownership and development of Hayden’s UL certification strategy, together with the management of relevant North American electrical standards and continued compliance with European and UK regulatory requirements.
This is a practical, cross-functional role. The Global Standards Engineer will not simply interpret codes but will establish the processes, documentation, design controls and manufacturing practices needed to achieve and maintain compliance.
The role is designed around a candidate with strong experience in pressure equipment certification, ASME, PED, welding engineering, manufacturing systems and coordination with certification bodies. The preferred candidate has previously led plant certification programs, implemented engineering and welding procedures and worked across Engineering, Production and Quality functions.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities
Global product compliance
- Act as Hayden’s internal authority for product standards, regulatory compliance and certification requirements.
- Establish and maintain a global compliance framework covering the United States, European Union and United Kingdom.
- Identify the codes, directives, regulations and standards applicable to each Hayden product line and market.
- Maintain controlled standards registers and monitor changes to applicable requirements.
- Assess the impact of regulatory and standards changes on existing products, new product development and manufacturing operations.
- Provide clear technical guidance to Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
- Ensure compliance requirements are identified during quotation, contract review, product development and production handover.
- Own Hayden’s UL certification strategy across Dry Cooler, CRAH and ACHE product lines.
- Determine the appropriate UL certification, listing, recognition or field-evaluation route for each product and component.
- Coordinate product submissions, technical reviews, testing, factory inspections and follow-up services with UL and other Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories.
- Manage compliance with applicable North American electrical and product safety requirements.
- Work with Electrical Engineering and Controls teams to ensure appropriate selection and application of:
- Control panels and electrical enclosures.
- Motors, fans and drives.
- Disconnects, protective devices and wiring systems.
- Controllers, sensors and safety devices.
- Power supplies and communications components.
- Support the development of required electrical drawings, bills of materials, component schedules, labels and certification files.
- Ensure certified components are used correctly and substitutions are controlled.
- Coordinate requirements relating to equipment SCCR, electrical ratings, environmental ratings and product marking.
- Support compliance with applicable Canadian requirements where relevant to the product or project.
- Manage factory follow-up inspections and corrective actions associated with North American certifications.
- Own the compliance process for products placed on the EU and UK markets.
- Manage applicable requirements including:
- Pressure Equipment Directive.
- UK Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations.
- Machinery safety requirements.
- Low-voltage electrical requirements.
- Electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
- Relevant environmental and material restrictions.
- Coordinate CE and UKCA conformity-assessment activities.
- Establish and maintain technical files, declarations of conformity and product-marking requirements.
- Confirm that applicable EN and ISO standards are correctly identified and applied.
- Coordinate with notified bodies, approved bodies and specialist laboratories where third-party involvement is required.
- Support Engineering in the preparation of risk assessments and evidence of conformity.
- Act as Hayden’s technical authority for pressure equipment codes and manufacturing requirements.
- Lead the interpretation and implementation of:
- PED and UK pressure equipment requirements.
- ASME Section VIII.
- ASME Section IX.
- Applicable piping, heat-exchanger and pressure-testing standards.
- ISO 3834 and associated welding-quality requirements.
- Define appropriate conformity-assessment and certification routes for coils, headers, pressure vessels, piping assemblies and heat exchangers.
- Support Engineering with material selection, design conditions, joint design, testing and code-calculation requirements.
- Manage welding procedure specifications, procedure qualification records and welder qualifications.
- Establish requirements for material certification, traceability, NDE, pressure testing and manufacturing records.
- Support the qualification and oversight of suppliers producing pressure-retaining or safety-critical components.
Product-line and engineering support
- Support compliance across:
- Dry coolers and fluid coolers.
- CRAH and data-center air-handling products.
- Air-cooled heat exchangers for power-generation and industrial applications.
- Participate in design reviews and new-product-development programs.
- Review customer specifications and identify compliance requirements, conflicts and exceptions.
- Develop compliance matrices and certification plans for major projects.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are translated into engineering specifications and production documentation.
- Advise Product Management on the impact of certification requirements on product architecture, cost and market access.
- Support investigation of product-safety, electrical, pressure-integrity and regulatory issues.
- Coordinate corrective actions where non-compliance or certification risk is identified.
- Develop and maintain global procedures for product certification and standards compliance.
- Establish clear ownership, approval and document-control processes.
- Prepare Hayden facilities for certification audits and factory inspections.
- Coordinate corrective actions arising from internal or external audits.
- Deliver practical training to Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
- Create checklists, templates and design guides to support consistent application of standards.
- Build internal capability so that compliance is integrated into the complete product lifecycle.
- Develop a roadmap for future product and facility certifications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in engineered equipment, manufacturing or product certification.
- Strong practical knowledge of pressure equipment requirements, including PED and ASME.
- Experience implementing certification or compliance systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working directly with certification bodies, notified bodies, approved bodies or inspection agencies.
- Understanding of electrical product safety and the application of certified electrical components.
- Ability to interpret complex standards and convert them into practical design and manufacturing requirements.
- Experience coordinating across Engineering, Quality and Production functions.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Willingness to travel internationally to Hayden facilities, suppliers, test laboratories and certification bodies.
- Experience managing UL product certification or factory follow-up services.
- Knowledge of relevant North American electrical standards and certification practices.
- Experience with CE and UKCA conformity assessment.
- International Welding Engineer qualification or equivalent.
- Experience with ISO 3834 and ISO 9001.
- Experience leading greenfield plant or product certification projects.
- Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration equipment, heat exchangers, air-cooled heat exchangers or data-center cooling products.
- Familiarity with electrical control panels, motors, variable-frequency drives and industrial controls.
- Previous manufacturing, production-management or quality-management experience.
- Practical, structured and commercially aware.
