Heavy Equipment Operator - Working Manager - Remote Site

Position Summary & Purpose

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production equipment such as loaders, grinders, skid steers, tractors, and other equipment. This position supports grinding, coloring, and production operations within Hay Creek Pallet while maintaining compliance with company standards and safety regulations. The Operator ensures high‑quality work, minimizes equipment downtime, and contributes to overall project success.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery including loaders, grinders, skid steers, tractors, and other equipment as assigned
• Perform production related operations such as loading, unloading, grinding, coloring, equipment moving, and site preparation
• Read and follow production plans and instructions
• Conduct daily pre‑operation inspections and report mechanical or safety issues
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and assist with basic preventative maintenance
• Safely load, and unload materials for customers and internal use
• Work cooperatively with crews, truck drivers, and supervisors
• Follow OSHA regulations and all company safety protocols
• Assist with general labor tasks when equipment operation is not required
• Ability to retain, communicate, and follow through with job tasks and customer requirements
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documentation, and communication regarding work progress
• Track production entries as needed, generate reports when needed

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Basic Math skills needed for production calculations.
• 1–3 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in construction, excavation, or related work is preferred.
• Valid driver's license required
• Tractor and Trailer moving experience is a plus – A CDL is not required

Knowledge

• Strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and safety practices
• Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues

• Ability to use digital timekeeping, computer, and equipment monitoring systems

Communication

• Clear verbal and oral communication skills with supervisors and crew members
• Ability to listen, follow directions, and relay information accurately
• Professional conduct on the jobsite

Planning and Organizing

• Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
• Strong situational awareness and ability to sequence operations efficiently
• Effective time management, with limited supervision

Other

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb, kneel, and work in uneven terrain
• Willingness to work overtime based on project needs
