What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at Hawthorne & Hawthorne, P.C.?
The legal assistant will be responsible for:
· Welcoming clients and other visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone;
· Maintaining attorneys' calendars by planning and scheduling conferences, telephone calls, other appointments, and travel and by recording and monitoring court appearance dates and filing deadlines;
· Properly maintaining, organizing, and filing pending and archived client files, documents, and records;
· Documenting all incoming and outgoing mail and distributing incoming mail and faxes to the appropriate recipients;
· Assisting with maintaining the atmosphere and appearance of the office environment;
· Assisting with managing and ordering office supplies;
· Assisting a supervising attorney with matters involving real estate transactions, including, but not limited to, commercial and real estate closings, foreclosures, easements, and partition suits;
· Assisting a supervising attorney with matters involving the Commissioner of Accounts, including, but not limited to, processing incoming Commissioner filings, drafting letters to fiduciaries, client vouchers, and accountings;
· Assisting a supervising attorney and other staff members in handling matters in various other practice areas;
· Drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents for attorney review;
· Managing client billing, including recording billable time, preparing invoices, and maintaining and reconciling various bank accounts;
· Performing other tasks as delegated by a supervising attorney; and
· Strictly respecting client confidentiality.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25, $40,000.00 per year
