Cooks Helper

Position Summary
Hawley Public Schools is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Cook's Helper to join our elementary kitchen team. This position assists with meal preparation, serving nutritious lunches to students, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a school environment and is looking for family-friendly hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing food and meal components for breakfast and lunch service.
• Serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Help set up and stock serving lines before meal service.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, serving area, dishes, and equipment following lunch service.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans as needed.
• Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen and storage areas.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Must successfully complete any required background checks.
