Hawks Counseling & Assessment Services, a proud member of San Antonio Counseling Collective, is seeking two talented postdoctoral fellows in clinical psychology to join our collaborative private practice. This fellowship offers an opportunity to deepen clinical expertise, refine therapeutic skills, strengthen diagnostic and assessment competencies, and develop the confidence and professional identity needed to thrive as an independent psychologist.

We believe the best clinicians are developed through a combination of thoughtful mentorship, meaningful clinical experience, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Our goal is to provide a supportive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating environment where you can grow as a clinician while making a genuine difference in the lives of the individuals, couples, families, and communities we serve.

About the Fellowship

Our postdoctoral fellowship is designed for an emerging psychologist who wants to move beyond foundational training and develop greater depth, flexibility, and confidence in clinical practice.

Working alongside experienced clinicians in a private practice setting, the fellow will continue to hone their therapy and assessment skills, with opportunities to tailor professional development to areas of clinical interest and long-term career goals.

We value high-quality, evidence-informed care delivered with warmth, cultural humility, clinical curiosity, and respect for each client's unique experiences. Fellows are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, explore new perspectives, and develop a therapeutic approach that is both authentic and grounded in sound clinical practice.

What You Can Expect

  • Meaningful mentorship and supervision. Receive individualized clinical supervision, thoughtful case consultation, and constructive feedback designed to strengthen clinical judgment and support continued professional growth.
  • Diverse and engaging clinical experiences. Work with a diverse client population and develop skills in case conceptualization, treatment planning, diagnostic formulation, and evidence-based intervention.
  • Professional identity development. Refine your therapeutic style, build confidence in complex clinical decision-making, and clarify your strengths and interests as a psychologist.
  • A collaborative practice environment. Join a team that values collegial relationships, open communication, ethical practice, and shared learning.
  • Career preparation. Develop the clinical, ethical, and professional competencies needed for independent practice.
  • An individualized learning experience. Where feasible, fellowship activities and learning objectives will reflect your interests, existing strengths, and areas for further development.

Primary Responsibilities

The postdoctoral fellow will:

  • Provide evidence-informed psychological services to clients within the scope of training, competence, and applicable licensure requirements.
  • Conduct clinical interviews, diagnostic evaluations, and psychological assessments as appropriate to the practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and monitor clinical progress.
  • Participate in scheduled supervision, case consultation, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and ethically appropriate clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and referral sources when clinically indicated and authorized.
  • Demonstrate cultural responsiveness, sound ethical judgment, and a commitment to client-centered care.
  • Work toward individualized training goals and the clinical competencies required for licensure.
