Job Summary
Hawkins Construction Company is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Loader Operator to operate heavy equipment on construction projects throughout the Omaha area. This position supports excavation, grading, material handling, paving, and site preparation while maintaining safe and efficient jobsite operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate wheel loaders and related heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load, move, and place soil, aggregate, construction materials, and debris.
- Support excavation, grading, paving, and site-preparation activities.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report mechanical or safety issues.
- Maintain proper equipment operation and follow manufacturer guidelines.
- Coordinate with foremen, laborers, truck drivers, and other equipment operators.
- Maintain accurate awareness of grades, work areas, traffic patterns, and jobsite hazards.
- Keep equipment clean and perform basic operator-level maintenance as assigned.
- Follow company safety policies, project requirements, and OSHA standards.
- Assist with general construction activities when equipment operation is not required.
- Work outdoors in changing weather and active construction environments.
Qualifications
- Previous loader or heavy-equipment operating experience required.
- Experience with wheel loaders, skid steers, or similar construction equipment preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction-site safety procedures.
- Ability to follow grade, site, and project instructions accurately.
- Valid driver's license preferred; CDL may be required for certain assignments.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.
- Comfortable working outdoors and performing physically demanding jobsite duties.
- Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends based on project requirements.
