A medium-sized law firm that focuses on family law litigation seeks an experienced family law paralegal, 30 - 40 hours per week. The firm is a friendly environment that does high-end family law work while striving to maintain personal life priorities and boundaries. We are located in Cottonwood Heights. The position can be onsite, remote, or mixed. This is not a starting position. Applicant MUST have strong paralegal experience.
Salary
$20 - $35/ hour (based on candidate’s qualifications), retirement matching plan, health insurance, free parking, all court holidays are paid time off, additional paid time off negotiable.
Responsibilities
- Drafting pleadings, motions, and other documents
- Interviewing clients or witnesses and drafting their statements
- Managing case flow, deadlines, discovery, subpoenas, orders, depositions, and final documents of the case
- Effective and friendly communication with clients, courts, and other counsel in difficult situations
- Track all active client matters including: track deadlines, assigned tasks, attorney/staff member assigned to each case and maintain client list
- Serve as a point of contact for the attorneys, clients, and other personnel concerning the cases
- Document preparation including bates stamping, redacting, hyperlinks, etc.
- Organizing virtual files
- Other responsibilities as directed by the attorneys
Qualifications
- Legal experience is a must. You must be familiar with the terminology, documents, and procedures involved in the family law process
- Positive, friendly, and professional attitude
- Ability to stay calm and friendly in the most adversarial of situations
- Ability to follow directions and pay close attention to detail
- Desire to learn, grow, and be a crucial part of a team
- Self-motivated and can work well without supervision
- Anticipates and prepares for deadlines, projects, and disclosures
- Excellent organizational skills
- A high working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Acrobat
- Willing to take direction from lead attorney including changing any procedures or organization to fit the needs/preferences of the attorney
- Knowledge of the LGBT community or willingness to learn
