Position Overview
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating qualified sales opportunities through in-person networking, relationship-building, community engagement, industry events, and strategic business development activities.
This role serves as Hawke's face in the market, building relationships with business owners, executives, referral partners, trade organizations, and local business communities to drive pipeline creation and revenue growth.
Success in this role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, strong networking abilities, a proactive approach to business development, and a passion for building meaningful professional relationships that translate into sales opportunities.
This is a highly visible, externally facing role designed to expand Hawke's presence in key markets and generate consistent revenue-producing opportunities for the Business Development team.

Core Responsibilities
Business Development & Networking
- Represent Hawke Media at networking events, industry associations, chambers of commerce, meetups, and community organizations
- Develop relationships with business owners, executives, founders, and decision-makers
- Create opportunities through strategic networking and relationship cultivation
- Actively identify and engage potential clients within target industries and verticals
Referral & Partnership Development
- Establish and maintain referral relationships with complementary service providers and strategic partners
- Identify opportunities to expand Hawke's local business ecosystem
- Develop long-term partnerships that consistently generate qualified introductions and opportunities
- Serve as a trusted resource within professional communities
Opportunity Qualification
- Conduct initial discovery conversations with prospects
- Assess business fit, needs, challenges, and marketing objectives
- Qualify opportunities according to established sales criteria
- Coordinate seamless handoffs to Business Development Executives (BDEs)
Brand Representation
- Serve as a professional ambassador for Hawke Media in the marketplace
- Promote Hawke's services, expertise, and value proposition
- Strengthen brand awareness within target business communities
- Represent company values and culture in all external interactions
Pipeline Management
- Maintain accurate records of prospect interactions and opportunities
- Track relationship development and follow-up activities
- Manage networking pipeline and referral partner relationships
- Ensure timely follow-up with all qualified prospects
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- 3 years of business development, sales, account management, or relationship-based selling experience
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities
- Comfortable attending frequent in-person events and meetings
- Highly self-motivated and results-oriented
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

- Identify and begin participating in key networking groups, business organizations, and local events
- Establish a personal business development plan and territory strategy
- Begin generating qualified opportunities immediately
- Build an initial pipeline of prospects, referral partners, and strategic relationships

- Attend a minimum of 40-50 networking events and business functions
- Establish relationships with key referral and community partners
- Generate 20-30 qualified opportunities
- Demonstrate strong networking, qualification, and follow-up capabilities

Days 31-60: Pipeline Creation & Consistency
Objectives
- Build a repeatable networking and business development rhythm
- Increase opportunity generation through referrals, introductions, and direct networking
- Expand visibility and presence within target business communities
- Consistently create qualified opportunities for the sales team
Success Metrics
- Maintain attendance at 15 events per week
- Generate 45-60 qualified opportunities monthly pace
- Demonstrate strong opportunity quality and acceptance rates
- Establish a growing referral and partner network
- Become a reliable source of pipeline creation
Days 61-90: Revenue Influence & Market Leadership
Objectives
- Establish yourself as a recognized connector and relationship-builder within the market
- Consistently generate opportunities at or above quota
- Drive measurable influence on closed-won revenue
- Optimize networking and business development strategies based on performance data
Success Metrics
- Generate 80 qualified opportunities per month
- Influence approximately 8 closed-won deals per month
- Contribute approximately $50,000 in monthly sourced revenue
- Maintain a strong referral network and pipeline of future opportunities
- Become a top-performing contributor to Hawke's business development efforts
