Freight Brokerage Sales Rep

About the Role

Hawk Logistics is growing our brokerage team and looking for a Carrier Rep to join us. This is a hybrid role: your primary focus is sourcing carrier capacity for loads booked by our Account Executives — negotiating rates, tracking loads, and keeping freight moving on time. When freight volume slows, you'll shift into shipper development, prospecting and closing new business directly. If you personally sell the shipper and source the carrier on the same load, you handle it cradle-to-grave and earn a significantly higher commission rate for that load.

What You'll Do

• Source and secure qualified carriers for loads booked by our Account Executives, within required timelines
• Negotiate carrier rates that protect and improve gross profit margin
• Build and maintain a network of vetted, reliable carriers
• Track loads from pickup through delivery, ensuring on-time performance
• Flag at-risk margin and escalate when needed
• Keep load and carrier records accurate and current in our TMS
• When capacity allows: prospect and close new shipper accounts, negotiate shipper rates, and personally source carriers for any business you develop — completing those loads start to finish

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, dispatch, or logistics/supply chain coordination (this is not an entry-level role)
• Proven ability to negotiate rates while building strong relationships — on both the carrier and shipper side
• Self-motivated with a genuine drive to sell, not just execute inbound freight
• Comfortable in a TMS, managing multiple active loads at once
• Ability to move fluidly between operations and sales based on business need
• Strong attention to detail and composure under time pressure
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have: Experience with DAT, experience with Highway, established carrier/shipper relationships, or prior dual carrier/shipper sales experience.

Compensation

• Base salary: $40,000–$55,000 , based on experience and existing network
• Uncapped commission on carrier-sourced loads, with a substantially higher commission tier for loads you personally sell and move cradle-to-grave
• Full commission details shared during the interview process

The Details

• Location: In-office
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM PT (flexibility for Central Time accounts)

Pay: $40,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
