Are you a dedicated and inspiring male role model with a passion for guiding young minds? We're looking for enthusiastic male mentors to support elementary and middle school boys on the Southside of Chicago. Our program focuses on fostering community, teamwork, self-confidence, and fun through engaging after-school group mentoring sessions.
We facilitate 1 to 1.5-hour group mentor sessions each weekday, and we're seeking mentors who can commit to working at one, two, or three of our school sites for up to 3 hours per week. Responsibilities:
- Lead engaging group mentoring sessions by implementing a daily schedule for 1 to 1.5-hour sessions.
- Encourage personal development and open communication during community circle check-ins.
- Foster a positive and motivating environment by actively engaging and monitoring students during group activities and free play.
- Customize and tailor activities to meet the developmental needs and interests of the group.
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet all of the following non-negotiable requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children in a professional or structured setting.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and interpersonal, with the ability to effectively engage with young students, parents, and staff.
- Consistently exhibit a positive, engaging, and enthusiastic attitude in all interactions.
- Proven experience with classroom management or leading group activities for school-aged children.
- Possess reliable transportation and demonstrate the ability to commute consistently to various Southside Chicago locations.
- Ability to successfully pass comprehensive background checks as required by state and organizational policies.
- Strict adherence to established systems and protocols is mandatory.
- Furnish three verifiable, professional references who can speak to your experience with children and work ethic.
- Availability to work during all after-school hours, specifically 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Commitment to a part-time, flexible schedule of 2-3 hours per week is required.
