JOB DUTIES: These positions are part of the Kaua’i Region Medical Group (KRMG), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, with the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region serving as its sole member. The HHSC Kaua’i Region encompasses Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and the Kaua’i Region Clinics.
The Kaua'i Region Clinics network spans several locations and provides the community with a comprehensive range of primary and specialized healthcare services. This includes, but is not limited to, Family Practice, Outpatient Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Urology, Gastroenterology, Podiatry, Internal Medicine, and more.
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Providers (APP), specifically Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners, who are committed to delivering the highest quality of general medical care to patients of the Kaua'i community. This role encompasses responsibilities within the Family Practice and Internal Medicine specialties.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care and treatment;
- Conduct patient evaluations and perform specialized technical procedures;
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff and physicians;
- Facilitate health education for patients and their families;
- Coordinate referrals to other disciplines and consult with allied clinicians;
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications.
EDUCATION:
- Graduation from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association (AMA), OR
- A Master's Degree in Nursing, OR
- Current certification in specialized and advanced nursing practice in a recognized specialty area from an accredited program approved by a national certifying body acknowledged by the Board of Nursing.
LICENSURES:
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Prescriptive Authority (for both controlled and non-controlled substances) from the State of Hawai'i, Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs at the time of appointment; AND
- A current, valid State of Hawai'i type #3 driver's license is preferred; AND
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) in Basic Life Support (adults, child, infant, etc.) for Healthcare Workers AND Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are required (candidates for certain specialties may be required to possess current certifications issued by the AHA in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)); AND
- Current certification from the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) or successful completion of the National Certifying Exam administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience as a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
