LOCATION: SAMUEL MAHELONA MEM HOSP | Clinic at Waimea POSITION STATUS: 1.00 | Permanent SALARY RANGE: BU09 | SR20 SALARY RATE: $110,136.00 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE JOB DUTIES: This position is regional and is located within the Kaua’i Region Clinics of Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. The HHSC Kaua’i Region encompasses Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), both designated as critical access hospitals (CAH), and its affiliated entities. Spanning several distinct locations, the Kaua'i Region Clinics network encompasses an extensive system that offers the community an array of primary and specialized healthcare services, ranging from Family Practice to Outpatient Surgery, and includes disciplines such as Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Urology, Gastroenterology, Podiatry, Internal Medicine, and more. The Registered Professional Nurse (RPN) III independently develops and implements comprehensive nursing care plans for patients within the clinic setting. This role encompasses the provision of nursing care, treatment, and educational services. The RPN III may oversee and direct the activities of lower-level registered nurses, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), medical assistants (MAs), and outpatient clinical assistants (OCAs). Additionally, this position may function as the charge nurse during assigned shifts and perform other related duties as required. The RPN III may be required to work at various locations within the region and is subject to shift work, including weekends and holidays, to meet operational requirements and address patient care needs. This position reports to the RPN V (Regional Clinic Nurse Manager), position no. 57326, or its designee. THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week. EDUCATION: Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. NURSING EXPERIENCE:Six (6) months of professional nursing work experience. Experience within a clinic setting, triage, assisting with minor procedures, physical exams, knowledge of insurance and prior authorization, scheduling of surgeries and DX exams, and injections preferred. SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED:Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for one year of nursing experience. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE:Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered. LICENSE REQUIRED: Possession of a current, valid license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawai’i; possession of a current, valid State of Hawai’i type# 3 driver’s license preferred. CERTIFICATION: Possession of a current certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE OF: Nursing theory and practice; biological, physical, social, and medicinal sciences as related to nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and developments in nursing; nursing techniques and procedures. ABILITY TO: Apply nursing theory and practices to planning and giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient's condition and take appropriate action; direct the work of nursing assistants; work effectively and cooperatively with patients, family members, medical staff and employees; prepare comprehensive nursing diagnosis and nursing care plans; and plan and direct the work of lower level registered nurses and nursing assistants. Familiarity with standards, regulations, requirements of Medicare, Medicaid, The Joint Commission, and procedures used in surveillance and control of hospital infections.
