Position Summary: As the East Hawaii Region transitions its e-health record to Epic on November 1, the Finance division is growing its team to establish and optimize this transformative system for our hospitals and clinics. As a member of the East Hawaii Medical Group’s E-Health Record Finance team, the EHR Data Integrity Specialist will be part of the HIM leadership team and responsible for collaborating on the design, build, testing, implementation, optimizing and support of Epic Health Information Management applications. This role supports financial operations by ensuring accurate system configuration and workflow alignment with business needs across acute, CAH, and ambulatory settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and optimize Epic HIM workflows to support accurate patient data, regulatory compliance, and efficient chart correction processes.
- Collaborate with Finance, Revenue Cycle, and Clinical teams to align Epic system configurations with operational, reimbursement, and compliance goals.
- Conduct testing, validation, and regression analysis for new Epic features and upgrades to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
- Manage data quality through duplicate record reconciliation, patient merges, and real-time issue resolution using Epic work queues.
- Develop and maintain financial, quality, and productivity dashboards using Epic Reporting Workbench, Clarity, and Caboodle for HIM performance tracking.
- Support end-user training and process standardization efforts to drive documentation accuracy, coding readiness, and HIM best practices across departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field; relevant health information management and medical records experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis
- Minimum three years’ Epic experience in Health Information Management and medical records management; background in IT systems support is beneficial
- Epic certification in Health Information Management (preferred or attainable within six months of hire)
- Proficiency in workflow analysis, problem-solving, and systems configuration
- Effective communication skills
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and/or coding certification preferred
Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
