Job Description:
Hawaii Detective & Guard is seeking professional and dependable Security Guards to join our team at Hamilton Library on the UH Mānoa campus. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, visitors, and property during swing shift operations.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor entrances, exits, and interior/exterior areas of Hamilton Library
- Conduct regular patrols to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized activity
- Provide a visible security presence while maintaining a professional, approachable demeanor
- Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, or emergencies and document in detailed reports
- Enforce UH Mānoa policies, building regulations, and safety protocols
- Assist students, faculty, and visitors with directions and general inquiries
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, UH staff, and law enforcement as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of continuous security experience preferred
- Valid Hawai‘i Guard Card required
- Strong observation and report writing skills
- Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct
- Ability to work independently and remain alert throughout the shift
- Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
