The medical assistant position available is based in Kailua for regular scheduling, but candidates should be available to cover in any of our 4 locations.
Dermatology experience is preferred as well as EMA (Modernizing Medicine) EMR experience however, it is not required as we offer on-the-job training.
As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Greet and room patients
- Assist the provider during examinations
- Explain procedures, forms, consent to patients in their entirety.
- Complete charts in EMR ensuring MIPS measures are completed as assigned.
- Prepare pathology specimens, notify carriers of pick-ups, place specimens in assigned locations prior to departure.
- Call patients with negative pathology biopsy results
- Return patient calls or VMs within 24 hours.
- Obtain pre/prior authorizations from insurance companies as needed for patients.
- Submit prescriptions to pharmacies in a timely manner to avoid patients getting to the pharmacy prior to their medications.
- Keep exam rooms clean and well-stocked
- Check and annotate refrigerator temperatures twice daily (beginning & end of the clinic)
- Clean and sterilize instruments daily. Inspect instruments to ensure cleanliness prior to use.
- Complete clinic laundry daily.
- Answer patient calls to include triage.
- Transport liquid nitrogen and other supplies between clinics as needed.
- Take on additional tasks as assigned.
- Coverage occasional Saturday and evening clinics as needed.
- Dispense LN2 from the machine into dewars every 2 hours as needed.
- Remain fair and professional in all encounters over the phone, text, in-person with everyone you encounter on behalf of the practice
- Unpack supplies and medication as received. Medication should be unpacked as soon as you receive them as they must be placed inside refrigeration units. Be certain to annotate EMR with the arrival of medication information.
EMA experience preferred.
